This session provided ambient air monitoring quality assurance requirements contained in 40 CFR Part 58 Appendix A as well as covering Federal QA requirements including the ambient air QA requirements for SLAMS/SPM/PSD monitoring. Training was also provided on the various quality control samples for each criteria pollutant including their frequency of collection and how they should be reported, the statistics for assessing data quality, and the tools available including the Data Assessment Statistical Calculator and the AMP 255 report. This training event was intended for personnel needing an initial understanding of the ambient air quality system and those wanting an update on the changes that have taken place over the years.

AQS is EPA's database of ambient air pollution data collected by EPA, state, local, and tribal air pollution control agencies from thousands of monitoring stations. AQS also contains meteorological data, descriptive information about each monitoring station (including its geographic location and its operator), and data quality assurance/quality control information. Learn how to retrieve data from AQS by a variety of tools (AQS Reports, AQS Data Mart, and how you can build your own database queries using Oracle Discoverer).
