Mike Flynn

Mike Flynn, Associate Deputy Administrator Mike FlynnMike Flynn serves as the Associate Deputy Administrator of EPA.  His responsibilities include serving as key advisor to the Deputy Administrator on management and policy issues, overseeing agency-wide initiatives and coordinating important issues with EPA’s regional and program offices.  Mike has over 36 years of experience in multiple programs across EPA.  

He served as the Director of the Office of Radiation and Indoor Air in OAR for six years, where he expanded Federal action to address health risks from radon exposure indoors, enhanced EPA’s preparedness for radiation emergencies and played a major role in the Agency’s response to the 2011 Japanese nuclear incident.  Previously, Mike served in the Office of Environmental Information, first as the Director of the Office of Information Analysis and Access and later as the Acting Deputy Assistant Administrator of OEI. 

Mike began his EPA career in the Office of Solid Waste and Emergency Response where he served in various leadership positions over nearly 20 years.  Mike has been a member of the Senior Executive Service since 2005.  He holds a B.S. degree from the University of Delaware in Agriculture and Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH) degree from the University of North Carolina.
